Belt Bag

if not wearing a seat belt and my car has no air bag, what kind of damage that could happen in an accident

How seat belts and air bags save lives? I searched on the net, BTU, I could not find a page that said what would happen if you do not use the belt, like hitting my head on the dashboard or something. Help please?
