What is the meaning of the Celtic trinity knot?
I am interested in the meaning given to three sisters. If anyone knows please help me out.
The three parts triquetra is an ancient symbol consisting of three intertwined Vesica Pices, often used to represent people or concepts into groups of three. Also known as the Trinity Knot and Celtic Triangle, has been found in Celtic art, paganism, and has also been used in Christianity. For pagans, the Triquetra represents the triple nature of the Goddess as the virgin mother, and old. It also symbolizes life, death and rebirth and the three forces of nature: earth, air and water. The interior three circles represent the female element and fertility. For Christians, the Triquetra represents the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit - three persons one God. Its three equal arcs represent equality, the continuous line expresses eternity, and the interweaving represents indivisibility and unity. Recently, the triquetra has been in the TV show "Charmed". It was used as a symbol for the Halliwell sisters. It is mentioned in the series that the symbol represents the power of three, Prue and later suggests that it represents the three of them working together as one. gatita_63109
