Cutting Horse

Is it difficult to train a horse, both for cutting and dressage?

So we're pretty sure they are taking a horse from a rescue, which has excellent bloodlines and was bred to be a very good cut or stop riding. court seems fun as I've seen in county fair many times, but I dont have any idea how to learn, and how could train for it. it is difficult to learn, I teach on my own or need a teacher.? Me too I always wanted to learn dressage. but its a pretty radical change from the court. If I train so it would be difficult and confusing for him? about how long it takes to train a green horse for dressage lower level? I could also do some English / western pleasure open sample. but this requires low transport, but since Dressage requires higher head carriage head, how does it work? Yes, I would compete in lower level dressage

!!!!!! big question The first poster is so right. I will comment on the slow side of things. The first thing I have to say is that there is no such thing (and I'm sure there are one or two exceptions) as a reality cut good / slow horse. While similar in appearance, it takes an entirely different type of person and the horse to do these 2 disciplines. The athletic part of the situation not a problem. Cutting horses have to be almost more tender and soft / flexible then slow down a good horse. basic training managers are good for any jockey or a horse to adopt. allowing a more responsive, flexible hard working horse. The same with stopping early. A cutting horse needs to know some of the principles Basic and advanced braking to be a good cutting horse. but thats about the similarities end. The problem is the mentality. good cow horse has a mind that focuses on things and things are what keep them happy. However, a good braking / dressage horse, likes to focus on the rider, and are perfectly happy and willing to ignore "things". They are willing and easily guided through difficult maneuvers and never question what the driver asks them to do. A cow horse is never really happy doing braking. Quickly become bored with the monotony of work, and that comes easily to them (usually they are true athletes), and often prefer to focus on other thing. its almost as if they add This is not a bad thing. In fact, it's just the way they think, so that their teaching and training methods have to be a little more creative to keep them interested. It's about doing something, (which is what they are bred to do) and when it comes to something like dressage or slow, thats not a good thing. Anyway, one more thing and that is how to establish a cattle or horse to stop or dressage. Dressage takes collection, and compresses the horse to do the movements accurate with perfect timing by the pilot. Reining is kind of collection and makes things faster. Cutting is similar. You take the collection, and build muscle for speed. In short, any dressage, or main stem you want to teach a horse can only enhance your ability to cut. but from what I compete in both, depends you and your horse. you have to be very very very very patient and spend much time on what you are doing. probably also want to find a professional to work. This will keep on the right path, and not backward. I found it very useful to take my horse to my pro NRHA twice a month, and then call her if I ran into problems. we started to improve 100 times more than if I tried to do it myself. Edit ** - its not the head of car! if you look at many dressage riders warm up their horses in the middle of maneuvers with a very low head carriage. Moves around. The reason of a dressage horse has his head set higher, is because 75% of its weight is in their rooms rear, allowing you to do things like pirouettes and passage. Lower levels do not require. The main idea is to keep your horse loose, music and law.
