How was the Constitution of India?
The constitution in its present form, consists of a preamble, twenty-two pieces containing three hundred ninety-five articles, twelve programs, ninety-four amendments, and five appendices. "The preamble outlines the basic structure of the Constitution of India. It contains the laws applicable in court, but no law can be adopted or modified in a manner that violates the spirit of the preamble. The Supreme Court, in the case of Bharati v. Kesavananda the state of Kerala, recognized that the Preamble can be used to interpret ambiguous areas of the Constitution where differing interpretations present themselves. However, the Preamble is useful as interpretive tool only if there is an ambiguity in the article itself and should not be treated as a grant of rights of the Constitution. original draft of the Constitution, It entered into force in 1950, had the words democratic and sovereign Republic in the first line. The words Socialist and secular is inserted through the controversy Amendment 42. Through the amendment, the words unity of the nation have switched to the unity and integrity of the nation. The amendment was prompted by Indira Gandhi in 1976 when he had dictatorial powers. A committee under the chairmanship of Sardar Swaran Singh recommended that this amendment was enacted after it was formed to study the question of amending the Constitution in light of experience
