What is the best treatment for Indian oak?
I have a table with 6 chairs and been given conflicting advice on whether to treat wood or not. It is in natural oak (India) are wood and want to protect the food stains, etc., also feels a bit rough to the touch. What would the best thing to use, if anything?
If you like the color of the wood now, this is what I would do. I sand the top to give a smooth and enjoyable. Consultation paper of 100 grit and work up to approximately 220. Then use a tack cloth to clean all the sawdust. To seal the wood, I recommend finsihed one clear polyurethane. It will seal the wood without changing the color. This will make the wood seem to be deeper and darker, but I think that improvement is great for all types of wood. I would apply a couple coats of finish, sanding with steel wool between coats. This will prevent the goal of becoming gray, boring and require another shell. Finally, the work of the last coat with 0000 steel wool nominal. Then apply a coat of floor wax and buff it for a nice polished finish .... Wil looking great Good Luck
