What tools would be suitable for carving a piece of jewelry from obsidian?
I prefer the "proper" tools, but basically, I'm just interested in some tips on what could be used to: 1) chisel in raw form (a lily). 2) finely round and smooth it. 3) polish. Also, if you have any advice (I hope Obsidian is fairly fragile )....... I have lots of trial and error manner is definitely an option as I learn.
The basic tools to use are those used to make cabochons. As in several thicknesses of dopping sticks pins 3-5 inches long and green wax to keep the issue in the suit.
